In the third decade of the 20th century, 'Jakher Dhan' started appearing in the pages of the children's magazine 'Mouchake'. It was the first story of a mysterious adventure in Bengali juvenile literature. Hemendrakumar Roy (1888-1963) authored Hemendrakumar Roy (1888-1963) who attracted readers of all ages like a magnet to the war story of danger and adventure. Although his fame was primarily in the form of children's literature, his field of talent was wide-ranging. In that era, he changed the conventional style and taste of songs sung in Bengali theater and gramophone records. Being a painter, he is a pioneer of 'Bangla Shilpa' and 'Manchavinay' critical literature, as well as skilled in the design and editing of numerous stories, novels, poems, translations, memoirs and essays. His achievement is undeniable, especially for giving the taste of adventure and detective stories to Bengali children's literature. In this context, his outstanding skill is reflected in historical stories and compositions and inevitably the horror and horror stories from his pen suggest another adventure. His adventure story hero Bimal Kumar and crime story hero Jayant-Manik have been in the circle of readers for almost eight decades.
